Blair Cares

We are grateful for the support that you and all of our other customers give to Blair Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. Support is a two-way street and we like to 'give back' to the community. "Blair Cares" is a way for you to help your favorite organization by means of a friendly competition between the supporters of three local community groups. Blair Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning will donate to each organization based on what place they come in at the end of Friday, April 3, 2020.

Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society

The Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society was founded in 1974, and is a registered non-profit society. The Friendship Centre Movement includes the National Association of Friendship Centres, provincial associations, and Friendship Centres throughout Canada. We provide First Nation informed programs and services to all peoples in all four stages of life: infants/children, youth, adults, and Elders. We are always looking for volunteers to support many of our on-going programs, as well as special events. The Ki-Low-Na Friendship Society will provide for the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of all peoples through the development of community-based services, while encouraging the community to preserve, share and promote Aboriginal cultural distinctiveness.

Okanagan Fruit Tree Project

For many years, members of the Okanagan community brought the issue of surplus food going to waste throughout the valley to the attention of the Central Okanagan Food Policy Council (COFPC). At the same time, the conversation also alluded to the many residents who go without enough food to eat on a daily basis. With this gap between excess food and rumbling stomachs, it only made sense to develop a means of recovery in our abundant community. From this, the Okanagan Fruit Tree Project was born in 2012, originally as a Food Action Project of the COFPC to share the bounty with those who need it the most. The project grew so fast, that in 2014 the OFTP became a non-profit society and transformed again in 2016 to become a registered charity! At Okanagan Fruit Tree Project, we make it our goal to:
  • Promote local food security in the Kelowna area
  • Increase dignified access to healthy food for those in need
  • Protect and celebrate local agriculture
  • Reduce food waste
  • Celebrate agricultural history
  • Celebrate agricultural histor
  • Provide opportunities to improve health by harvesting fruit
