Every child should have safe, secure housing that will enable them to thrive emotionally, socially and physically.
Every parent wants a better future for their family.
We know that the most important way for families to gain stability and self-reliance is to own their own homes. Every day in British Columbia, more and more families find themselves in a struggle to keep a decent roof over their heads.
Habitat for Humanity Okanagan walks alongside families like these to ensure that they have a safe place to sleep at night, along with the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives.
And, with your help, we know we can do even more.
We dream of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity Okanagan’s mission is to bring Okanagan communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.
Everything we do is guided by our values: human dignity, partnership, diversity, and inclusivity. That means that we don’t just build and give away houses. We empower whole communities — businesses, nonprofits, volunteers, neighbours, government, Habitat homeowner families — to transform lives.
Through donated labour, efficient management, and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat for Humanity Okanagan builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses. We also run ReStores, home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials and home goods the public. The ReStores provide an environmental and community benefit and allow us to cover all our administration costs so that every dollar raised goes directly where it is needed most.
Since our establishment in 1992, we’ve helped 34 families from Enderby to Osoyoos own their own home. Our goal over the next five years is to help 45 more families. Ambitious? Yes! Doable? We believe everything is possible when people come together to create change.
